EMASS Dublin 2010

See the final updated programme here

As you've probably all heard by now, the Eyjafjallajökull volcano has been experiencing increased volcanic activity leading to airport closures across some of Ireland and Britain today.

The Irish Aviation Authority has just issued a further update (at 2.30) confirming that airports, including Dublin, will be closed until 9.00am tomorrow. There will be no further update from the IAA until 8pm tonight. See www.iaa.ie and www.dublinairport.com for flight information, as well as your own intended airline websites. www.met.ie provides some information also on expected weather conditions.

EMASS 2010 is still going ahead this week. We know that many of you are due to fly from the UK to Dublin, and all we can advise is that you keep in touch with your airlines website for details. There are excellent ferry links to Dublin from the UK, and you may wish to check these out. I know that some of you had originally planned to travel by ferry anyway.

Ferry information is available at:
www.stenaline.co.uk Holyhead-Dublin/Dun Laoghaire, Fishguard-Rosslare, Stranraer-Belfast
www.irishferries.com Holyhead-Dublin, Pembroke-Rosslare
www.poirishsea.com Liverpool-Dublin, Troon/Cairnryan-Larne routes

All these ferries are served by excellent rail and bus links - see the following for details:
www.nationalrail.co.uk for all UK rail details
www.irishrail.ie for all Irish rail services
www.nationalexpress.com for all UK bus services
http://www.buseireann.ie for all Irish bus services

I'm afraid that the final decision on travel will have to be made by yourselves. The conference is still going ahead and we are planning on a full programme! If any of you would like to contact me, my mobile number is 00353 87 2830273.

I'm sorry that this has happened, unfortunately volcanic eruptions are out of our control! Hopefully, these are only temporary flight restrictions and everything will be back to normal by tomorrow.

As always, if you have any questions, either email us here, or give me a text or call on the above number!
Looking forward to seeing you all on Wednesday morning,
